Software Engineer

Tlon Corporation, San Francisco, CA - Remote – (March 2022 - Present)

Full stack developer, primarily focused on building a cross-platform React and React Native app with a scalable, peer-to-peer backend written in Hoon, Urbit’s statically typed, purely functional systems language.

At Tlon, I am a key developer of the Tlon Messenger app, a decentralized messaging and social platform. Built on Urbit, a novel OS and network designed for user privacy and ownership, the app enables users to run their own backend instances, ensuring complete data control with a seamless experience.

Worked as a full stack developer with a primary focus on Javascript/Typescript and Swift, with extensive experience in React, React Native, SwiftUI, Node, GraphQL, and all associated frontend/backend libraries.

Clients I've worked for:

***Breakthrough Fuel -*** I've worked on several projects for BT, all related to their digital transformation and their new Felix product. All projects at BT use React frontends, Node APIs, and a federated GraphQL layer (via Apollo) between them. The frontend is very complex and visualization heavy. On these projects, I typically worked on very large general teams with smaller, more specific teams for defined periods of time.
- Major libraries used on the React frontend: Material-UI, Apollo, React Router, Okta, Nivo, Recharts, Moment, Storybook, Jest.
- Major libraries used on the backend: Apollo, Okta, Sequelize, Jest.
***Spotify -*** Developed a greenfield internal application for Spotify’s legal team. Next.js was used for both the frontend and the backend (via Nest's built in API routes, which act like built-in lamdba functions). The UI was built using Spotify's internal UI components, the app was deployed via a container into a kubernetes cluster. I was the sole full-stack developer on the project, the other engineers worked on the data lake that was intended to drive my app.
***Thrivent Financial -*** Developed an interactive, animation-heavy react app that was designed to help Thrivent’s customers with financial planning.
***Ditto -*** A React Native application focused on bringing couples together through improving shared understanding of relationship expectations.
